About - A Brief History

Pietro N. Giunta came to America in 1908 to find his American Dream.  He was the one who started the West Chester Giunta Family in the food business in 1927. 

His sons Frank, Tony and Sam ran the business after Pietro’s death in 1959.  Grandson Frank J. Giunta, Jr. and his wife Nina further developed the store off the corner of Darlington and Biddle Streets over to West Market St. in 1976. 

By 1991 they moved into Bradford Plaza and opened Giunta’s Thriftway until it was forced to close in 2005. 

Pietro’s Prime Steakhouse was born out of all the changes by Frank and Nina’s daughter Marisa and her husband Sean Powell. 

It is a true testament to the Giunta Family Spirit and we hope you enjoy being our guest for many years to come.
